NOVEMBER’S THEME — “SEEING THANKSGIVING FROM GOD’S PERSPECTIVE”

BEATS FROM YOUR PASTOR’S HEART

YOU ARE CHRIST’S REPRESENTATIVE

Your identity determines how you live.

2 Corinthians 5:20, “Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God.”

YOUR LIFE HAS A DIVINE PURPOSE

One of the most encouraging truths about our identity in Christ is that God has given every believer a purpose. We are not saved merely to wait for heaven. We have been placed in this world to represent Jesus Christ. Our homes, workplaces, churches, neighborhoods, and everyday relationships provide opportunities for His life to be seen through us. You may never preach a sermon or stand before a congregation, but your life can communicate the love, grace, and truth of Jesus Christ.

YOU BELONG TO CHRIST WHEREVER YOU GO

An ambassador represents the country to which he belongs. His responsibility is not to promote his personal opinions but to communicate the message of the one who sent him. As believers, we represent Jesus Christ. Our words, attitudes, choices, and relationships should reflect His character. This does not mean we will never fail, but it does mean we should live with the awareness that we belong to Him.

YOUR DAILY LIFE CAN REVEAL CHRIST TO OTHERS

Sometimes we imagine that serving God requires extraordinary opportunities. But much of the Christian life is lived through ordinary acts of obedience. Showing patience when someone is difficult, offering forgiveness when we have been hurt, speaking kindly when we are frustrated, and helping someone who cannot repay us are all opportunities for Christ’s life to be expressed through us. People may forget many things we say, but they often remember how we treated them.

YOUR PURPOSE DOES NOT END WITH AGE OR LIMITATIONS

Some believers begin to think their usefulness to God has ended because they are older, weaker, or unable to do what they once did. But our spiritual purpose is not determined by physical strength or public recognition. A prayer offered in faith, a word of encouragement, a testimony of God’s faithfulness, or a quiet act of love can have an eternal influence. As long as God gives us life, we have opportunities to reflect Christ. We may not be able to do everything we once did, but we can still surrender ourselves to the One who lives within us. A mirror does not create its own light. It simply reflects the light that shines upon it. When positioned toward the sun, it can brighten places that would otherwise remain dark. Our lives are intended to reflect Jesus Christ. We are not the source of spiritual light. He is. As we walk in fellowship with Him, His love, grace, and truth can shine through us into the lives of others. Your identity in Christ is not merely a truth to understand. It is a life to be lived. You are His child, accepted by His grace, united with Him, complete in Him, and called to represent Him. The greatest testimony you can give the world is not how strong you are, but how faithfully Christ lives His life through you.

WARFARE  PRAYER

Lord Jesus, thank You for giving my life eternal purpose. Help me remember that I belong to You and represent You wherever I go. May my words reveal Your truth, my attitudes reflect Your grace, and my actions demonstrate Your love. Live Your life through me today so that others may see You rather than me. Amen. Daily Challenge: Ask the Lord to give you one opportunity today to reflect Christ through an encouraging word, a patient response, a loving action, or a simple testimony.

THE GREAT TRUTH OF OUR IDENTITY IN CHRIST

These six devotions teach us that our identity is not something we must struggle to create. It is something God has already given us through our relationship with Jesus Christ. We are new creations, no longer defined by our past. We are children of God, loved and cared for by our heavenly Father. We are accepted in Christ, no longer struggling to earn God’s approval. We are united with Christ, receiving His indwelling life. We are complete in Him, finding our sufficiency in His grace. And we are His representatives, called to make Him known through our daily lives. The greatest discovery of the Christian life is not simply learning what we must do for Jesus, but understanding who we are in Jesus and allowing Him to live His life through us.

Philippians 1:21, “For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.”

Remember: Your identity is in Christ. Your life comes from Christ. Your strength is supplied by Christ. And your purpose is to reveal Christ.
