MAY THEME – “SEEING THE VALUE OF A SOUL FROM GOD’S PERSPECTIVE”
BEATS FROM YOUR PASTOR’S HEART
THE LORD IS MY GLORY
Psalm 3:3 — “But thou, O LORD, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head.”
So many people spend their lives searching for glory in the wrong places. Some seek glory in success, possessions, recognition, relationships, ministry positions, appearance, or the approval of people. But all earthly glory fades. Titles change. Applause grows silent. Strength weakens. People disappoint. Circumstances shift. If your identity is built upon temporary things, your heart will constantly rise and fall with them. David understood something deeper. In one of the darkest seasons of his life—betrayed, attacked, and overwhelmed—he declared, “Thou, O LORD, art… my glory.” David was saying, “Lord, You are the reason I can stand. You are my identity, my confidence, my worth, and my joy.” True glory is not found in what we possess or what people think about us. True glory is found in belonging to God.
God Is the Glory the World Cannot Give
The world teaches people to build their worth upon achievements, popularity, wealth, and appearance. But those things can disappear overnight. One bad report, one betrayal, one failure, or one season of suffering can strip away everything earthly people trusted in. But when the Lord becomes your glory, your identity is no longer controlled by circumstances. You may go through trials, rejection, sickness, criticism, or loss, yet your heart remains anchored because your value comes from Him. The child of God does not have to chase significance because significance is already found in Christ. Many believers live exhausted because they are trying to prove themselves to people instead of resting in who they are before God. When the Lord becomes your glory, you stop living for applause and begin living for His presence.
The Lord Lifts the Head of the Broken
David connected God being his glory with God being “the lifter up of mine head.” Shame pushes the head down. Guilt pushes the head down. Failure pushes the head down. Fear pushes the head down. But God specializes in lifting bowed hearts. The enemy constantly reminds people of what they are not, what they failed at, and what they lost. Satan wants believers to live defeated, condemned, and spiritually ashamed. But the Lord reminds His children that they are redeemed, forgiven, loved, and accepted through Jesus Christ. When the Lord is your glory, you no longer define yourself by your worst day. You define yourself by His grace. God can restore dignity to the broken, joy to the weary, hope to the discouraged, and strength to the overwhelmed heart.
His Presence Is Greater Than Earthly Glory
Moses once prayed, “Shew me thy glory.” The greatest treasure in life is not earthly success—it is the presence of God. A person may gain the world and still feel empty inside. But one moment in the presence of God can satisfy the deepest hunger of the soul. The closer you walk with God, the less attractive the temporary glories of this world become. Worship changes your perspective. Prayer changes your desires. Time with God reminds you that eternity matters more than earthly recognition. The Lord is not merely part of life—He is the center of life. His glory fills the heart with peace the world cannot manufacture. His presence gives strength when everything around you feels unstable.
A lighthouse stands unmoved during violent storms because its foundation is anchored into solid rock. Waves crash against it. Winds beat upon it. Darkness surrounds it. Yet it continues shining because its stability does not come from the storm around it but from the foundation beneath it. Likewise, when the Lord becomes your glory, your stability no longer depends on the opinions of people or the changing circumstances of life. Your soul becomes anchored in the unchanging character of God.
If the Lord is truly your glory, then your greatest joy will not be earthly praise but His presence. Your confidence will not be rooted in human approval but in His love. Your peace will not depend on circumstances but on His faithfulness. Everything earthly eventually fades, but the glory of knowing Christ endures forever. Let the Lord become the center of your identity, your confidence, your worship, and your life.
Warfare Prayer
Father, forgive me for seeking glory in temporary things. Deliver me from living for the approval of people and teach me to find my identity in You alone. Lift my head when discouragement and shame try to overwhelm me. Remind me that my worth is found in Jesus Christ and not in this world. Help me walk daily in Your presence and rest in Your love. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Daily Challenge
Take time today to examine where you find your worth and confidence. Ask yourself honestly: “What affects my identity the most—God’s presence or people’s opinions?” Spend extra time worshipping and thanking God simply for who He is, not merely for what He gives.
