SUNDAY’S SERMON SUMMARY

GO TO www.belmontbaptistchurch.com/sermons and listen to Sunday’s message.

I know many of you sacrificed to help send the kids to Arise this week.  Well, there will be special rewards in Heaven awaiting you for your vision to invest in the lives of these kids.  It was an incredible night tonight.  God spoke to many hearts and decisions were made that will impact the future until Jesus comes.  Thank You seems so small considering the impact your gift has made this week.  The kids I am bringing home to you aren’t the kids I left with.  Please continue to pray for these last 2 days.  See you Sunday.

Psalm 37:4 “Delight thyself also in the Lord; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.”

Our old desires were self-centered, driven by selfish ambitions, material possessions, and the pursuit of immediate gratification.

In Christ, our desires shift dramatically.

We now seek God’s will above all else, finding joy in serving others and pursuing treasures that have eternal value rather than temporary satisfaction.

Jesus, in His prayer in the Garden of Gethsemane, exemplifies aligning our desires with God’s will.

In Matthew 26:39, He prays, “O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.”

Jesus’ desire to do the Father’s will surpassed His own, showing us the ultimate example of submitting our desires to God’s plan.

DELIGHT IN THE LORD: Make your relationship with God your highest priority.

Spend time in His presence, worshiping and seeking His face.

The more you delight in Him, the more your desires will align with His will.

ALIGN YOUR DESIRES: Regularly evaluate your desires.

Ask yourself if they align with God’s will and purposes for your life.

Be willing to let go of desires that are not in line with His plans for you.

SERVE OTHERS: Find joy in serving others and meeting their needs.

Reflect on Mark 10:45, “For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.”

Serving others shifts our focus from self-centered desires to God-centered purposes.

ETERNAL PERSPECTIVE: Focus on desires that have eternal value.

Matthew 6:20 encourages us, “But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal.”

Pursue goals and ambitions that have lasting significance rather than fleeting rewards.

By aligning our desires with God’s will, we find true satisfaction and purpose.

Our lives become a testament to His love and grace, reflecting His priorities in our choices and actions.

When our desires align with God’s, we experience a deeper sense of fulfillment and joy that transcends earthly pursuits.

PRAYER

Father, help me to align my desires with Your will.

May I find joy in serving others and pursuing treasures that have eternal value.

Transform my heart to desire what You desire. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

ASSIGNMENT

Today, make a list of your current desires and ambitions.

Spend time in prayer, asking God to align them with His will.

Write down any changes you feel led to make and steps you can take to pursue desires that honor God.
