Beats From Your Pastor’s Heart
Ephesians 3:16-17, “To be strengthened with might by His Spirit in the inner man, that Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith, being rooted and grounded in love.“
The Christian life transcends merely accepting Christ and securing a place in heaven.
While these are essential, they fall short of God’s ultimate purpose.
When we receive Christ, God’s plan is to establish a new source within us—our regenerated spirit (John 3:6).
This new source signifies a profound transformation where we no longer live for ourselves but for God, driven by His divine life.
The essence of our spiritual rebirth is this change of source.
It means that our lives are no longer governed by our own desires and efforts but by God’s life within us.
This transformation is a process that unfolds as we mature in faith, experiencing a progressive shift from living by the self to living by the Spirit.
For this transfer to happen, we must undergo experiences with the Lord where our old self is dealt with, and our new spirit gains prominence.
As stated in 1 Thessalonians 5:23, our being comprises spirit, soul, and body.
Before we are regenerated, our spirit, though present, is in a state of spiritual death (Ephesians 2:1).
Consequently, our living is dominated by our soul, which consists of our mind, emotions, and will.
However, when Christ enters us, our spirit is revived, leading to an inner reorganization of our being.
No longer should our mind, emotions, and will direct our lives.
Instead, our regenerated spirit, where we are united with the Lord (1 Corinthians 6:17), becomes the guiding force.
This Christ-indwelt center ensures that all parts of our soul—our thoughts, feelings, and decisions—find their proper place and function.
Previously, we lived as independent individuals, doing our own things, thinking our own thoughts, and making our own decisions.
But with the change of our inner source, everything is transformed.
Christ takes residence in our hearts, reordering all our inward parts.
This transformation leads us to be rooted and grounded in love, as Christ’s presence within us brings about a profound change in how we live and relate to others.
