JOE TURNER’S GRAVESIDE SERVICE WILL BE TODAY AT 1 P.M. AT THE SCOTT WARD FUNERAL HOME IN CONYERS.

Daily Beats from your Pastor’s Heart:

I want to take the next few weeks for you to share what and how God is working or has worked in your life.

Many will be encouraged if you will share the miracle of God’s grace in your life.

My WifeMae

It was a typical Saturday Afternoon.

Everyone was busy doing their usual activities.

Nolan and Neal were away from home doing yard work for Belle King, one of the widow ladies in our church.

Unbeknowing to me, Scarlett was playing in her room with 2 of her friends.

I had washed a load of clothes and put them into the drier.

After cleaning up the lunch dishes, I heard a dreadful sound.

The smoke alarm went off with a deafening scream that sent panic and fear through my heart.

I ran from the kitchen, through the den only to be met by what seemed a blowtorch of flames coming from the washer/drier room.

I had enough sense of mind to run next door to call 911.

I knew never to use the phone in a burning house.

Scarlett had followed me out of the house upon hearing it as well.

It seemed like eternity before the fire trucks arrive.

But, we were safe on the outside watching our house be engulfed with flames, when Scarlett reminded me that her 2 friends were upstairs playing in her room.

The flames had blocked all the entrances, so there was no way to get to them.

We franticly tried to find a ladder to reach them to no avail.

Then an angel, a man we never saw again, coached the young girls to open an upstairs window that I had not been able to raise for quite awhile, and jump to him.

He caught them and we all rejoiced.

But he disappeared never to be recognized or seen again.

We kind of wonder if he might have been sent on a mission from Heaven.

The fire trucks arrived and then my husband returned from picking up the boys and we stood outside and watched our house and everything we owned be completely destroyed by fire.

In a split second we watched as every material thing we owned was gone.

Many of you stood and wept with us.

Sunday comes after Saturday and we had nothing to wear to church on the next day.

Nancy Anderson, one of our members went home and brought back a new suit that she had never worn and gave it to me for church.

Charles Lyons handed us the keys to his house and said stay as long as you need to stay.

My husband preached on Romans 8:28 that Sunday and Jeff Vaughn, our music director, sang Ron Hamilton’s Song, Rejoice in the Lord.

God never moves without purpose or plan
When trying His servant and molding a man.
Give thanks to the LORD though your testing seems long;
In darkness He giveth a song.

I could not see through the shadows ahead;
So I looked at the cross of my Savior instead.
I bowed to the will of the Master that day;
Then peace came and tears fled away.

Now I can see testing comes from above;
God strengthens His children and purges in love.
My Father knows best, and I trust in His care;
Through purging more fruit I will bear.

O Rejoice in the LORD
He makes no mistake,
He knoweth the end of each path that I take,
For when I am tried
And purified,
I shall come forth as gold.

From that one seemingly horrible situation, God brought forth so many wonderful things.

He truly knows the end before we get there, and He has a plan for our lives IF we will trust Him to make a way where there seemed to be no way.

Until Tomorrow,                                                                                                               With A Shepherd’s Love                                                                                                Pastor
