Beats From Your Pastor’s Heart:
Romans 8:28, “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.”
Loving God is an exercise of our spirit.
It is contacting Him.
This causes our spirit to rise and be filled up with Christ.
We may pray, “Lord, I have come to the end of my resources.
I cannot live through this.
I cannot meet this.
I cannot face this.
But, Lord, I sink myself into You once again.
I open to You and take You as my life and supply.
Lord, I am not complaining.
I am not living with a feeling of being treated unfairly or getting a bad break in life.
There is no such thing in my thought, because all things are avenues to lead me to experience more of the riches of Christ.”
By touching Him in this way, He saturates our being with Himself.
The riches of Christ include His sufferings and His crucifying life.
Romans 8:36 says, “As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.”
Of course, none of us naturally want to be slaughtered.
But verse 37 says, “Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.”
Though we may be brought low, by His life we are raised up again with Jesus.
We rise with more of Christ wrought into our being.
We come up with more renewal of our mind.
Experiencing Christ is our unique goal.
This is what everything is for.
So ultimately all things are working together for good.
Loving God turns our “all things” into the good–conformity to the image of God’s Son.
