Acts 12:23-24, “And immediately the angel of the Lord smote him, because he gave not God the glory: and he was eaten of worms, and gave up the ghost. But the word of God grew and multiplied.”

Herod’s demise serves as a stark reminder of the consequences of pride and failing to honor God.

He was struck down because he did not give God the glory, illustrating that God does not tolerate arrogance and self-exaltation.

In contrast, despite the persecution and opposition faced by the early church, it continued to grow and flourish, demonstrating the unstoppable power of God’s Word.

This contrast highlights that while human pride leads to downfall, humility and dedication to God lead to spiritual growth and the expansion of His kingdom.

We must always give glory to God in all circumstances, recognizing that any success or achievement comes from Him.

It is essential to remain humble and acknowledge God’s hand in every aspect of our lives.

Additionally, despite the challenges and opposition we may face, God’s purposes will prevail, and His Word will continue to spread.

We should be encouraged that our efforts to share the Gospel are part of God’s larger, unstoppable plan.

PRAYER

Lord, keep me humble and always mindful to give You glory in all things. Help me to recognize Your hand in my successes and blessings, and to never take credit for what You have done. Strengthen my faith and resolve to continue spreading Your Word, knowing that Your purposes will always prevail. In Jesus Name, Amen.

ASSIGNMENT

Reflect on areas of your life where you may not have given proper glory to God.

Write a prayer of thanksgiving and praise, acknowledging His hand in your successes and blessings.

Commit to sharing His Word with someone this week, and trust that despite any obstacles, God’s message will continue to grow and multiply.

Additional Reflection Questions:

  1. What does it mean to give glory to God?

Giving glory to God means acknowledging His greatness, expressing gratitude for His blessings, and recognizing His hand in all aspects of        our lives. It involves a heart of humility and worship.

  1. Why is pride such a dangerous attitude according to the Bible?

Pride is dangerous because it leads us to rely on ourselves rather than           on God, and it blinds us to our need for His grace. Proverbs 16:18 says,     “Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.”

  1. How can we practically give glory to God in our daily lives?

We can give glory to God by praying with gratitude, sharing           testimonies of His goodness, serving others selflessly, and living in a    way that reflects His character. Acknowledging Him in our successes       and trusting Him in our struggles also honors Him.

  1. What can we learn from the early church’s growth despite persecution?

The growth of the early church despite persecution teaches us that   God’s plans cannot be thwarted by human opposition. It encourages us      to remain faithful and bold in sharing our faith, knowing that God is in control and His Word is powerful.

  1. How can we remain steadfast in spreading God’s Word amid challenges?

We can remain steadfast by staying rooted in Scripture, praying for strength and guidance, seeking support from fellow believers, and       trusting in God’s promise that His Word will not return void Isa 55:11.

ENCOURAGEMENT FOR THE WEEK: As you go through this week, remember the unstoppable power of God’s Word and the importance of giving Him glory in all things. No matter the challenges you face, trust that God is at work and that your efforts to honor Him and spread His message are never in vain.
