Daily Beats FOR Our Pastor’s Heart:

Each day Belmont Baptist Church and countless friends, family, and other ministers and missionaries from across the globe enjoy a very special part of our daily devotions:  The Daily Beats From Our Pastor’s Heart.

Pastor Jackson, if you would be so kind as to allow us, today we would like to share the Beats of Our Heart for our Pastor.

In John 10:14-15, Jesus said “I am the good shepherd; and I know My sheep, and am known of Mine own. As the Father knoweth Me, even so I know the Father; and I lay down My life for the sheep.”

Our culture has gone to great lengths to attempt to define good leadership. A quick walk through the average bookstore or glance through an Amazon page will reveal hundreds of volumes on the matter, each written with good intentions.

Despite these vast opinions, one thing remains true: good leadership isn’t defined by the willingness of others to follow the man, but by the willingness of the man to FOLLOW, so that others can be led.

Jesus said “As the Father knoweth Me, even so I know the Father”

A Good Pastor doesn’t merely gauge the heart of his people—He fervently seeks the heart of Our Father.

His life’s goal is not to seek the approval of men but the continual presence and provision of God for all those he loves.

His heart is reflected in his actions:

“and I lay down My life for the sheep…”

He sacrificially gives, caring for others (often to the extent of personal loss.) Yet he counts any such personal loss as gain, for his heart is for his sheep.

“I know My sheep, and am known of Mine own…”

A Good Pastor seeks the Heart of God and knows the hearts of His people. He ministers to and cares for them by submitting to Christ who moves in Him and through Him.

So, what truly makes a good leader?  A good Pastor? A good friend?

The answer can be summed up in one word:

JESUS.

…………..

Pastor Jackson,

We truly know what it means to have all of these things (a Good Pastor, leader, & friend) because when we see you and Mae:

We see JESUS.

…………..

Until tomorrow,

Thank you for your Shepherd’s Love
