COMING TO CONTRIBUTE

As you find your seat, remember that you’re not here just to observe but to add your unique gift to the Body. Notice the faces around you—each one bearing a gift God intends to use—and ask, “How can I build up my brothers and sisters today?” Let your posture reflect purpose, not passivity; sit with arms open, eyes alert, and ears ready to listen for opportunities. Consider that your very presence and attitude set the tone for others: you might be the encouragement someone desperately needs to keep pressing on. Your simple act of greeting a neighbor could plant a seed of hope in a weary heart. Even your silent worship—hands lifted in praise—speaks truth into the atmosphere before a single word is spoken.

“For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office: So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another.”
– Romans 12:4–5

God designed His Church like a human body—each part essential, none optional. No single gift carries all the weight; together we form a living, breathing organism under Christ’s headship. As you meditate on these verses, ask the Spirit to reveal how your role fits into this divine design.

Which of your spiritual gifts—encouragement, teaching, serving, giving—can you offer today? Perhaps your smile could welcome a newcomer, your listening ear could bring comfort to someone in pain, or your quiet generosity could meet an unspoken need. How might withholding your gift weaken the whole Body? Imagine an orchestra missing its flute or violins: the melody suffers, and the audience senses something is off. Your contribution, however small, helps keep the harmony of the Church intact.

Prayer: Holy Spirit, show me how You’ve gifted me. Open my eyes to the ways I can serve, the words I can speak, and the generosity I can extend. Grant me boldness to step out—even in small tasks—and humility to cheer on others when they lead. May my willingness to contribute glorify Jesus and strengthen His Body. In His Name, Amen.

Challenge: Identify one small way to serve during worship—greet the newcomer with warmth, offer to pray with someone in need, or help with setting up or clearing away. Make it your aim not just to check a box, but to do so with a joyful heart, knowing that Christ delights in your faithful service. Afterward, jot down how your simple act affected someone else—and how it stirred your own spirit.
