Beats From Your Pastor’s Heart
YOU ARE ASSIGNED, NOT JUST ATTENDING
1 Corinthians 12:18 — “But now hath God set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased him.”
You are not in the Body of Christ by coincidence. You are not sitting in that pew, attending that service, or reading this devotion by random chance. God Himself—with full knowledge of your past, your personality, your strengths, your weaknesses, and your potential—has set you in His Body as it pleased Him.
The word “set” in this verse isn’t passive—it’s intentional. It means to place with purpose, to assign with a plan. Just as an architect places every beam, brick, and joint to support the whole structure, so God has placed you in His Church. You weren’t thrown in. You were planted in a place where your spiritual gift, your story, your voice, and your faith can strengthen the Body.
Maybe your role is seen. Maybe it’s unseen. Maybe you lead from the front or support in the shadows. Maybe you’ve questioned your value or wondered, “Do I really belong here?” Hear this today: Yes. You do. Because He put you here.
The Church doesn’t just need attendance—it needs assignment.
It doesn’t just need warm bodies—it needs willing hearts.
You are part of a divine design, and when you withhold your role—whether out of fear, apathy, or insecurity—the Body suffers. But when you embrace your assignment, something holy flows through you: encouragement is released, strength is supplied, burdens are lifted, and Jesus is seen.
You are not just attending—you are anointed for a specific assignment in this generation, in this season, in this house.
Spend 15 quiet, undistracted minutes with the Lord today. Ask Him sincerely:
“Lord, what is my assignment in this season?”
Be still. Be honest. Write down what He reveals—whether it’s a person to encourage, a ministry to join, a burden to carry, or a gift to stir up. Then, don’t delay. Take action this week—not in your own strength, but in His grace.
Prayer: Jesus, thank You that I’m not here by accident. You’ve placed me in Your Body with purpose. Open my eyes to see the role You’ve designed for me to fill. Strip away fear, insecurity, and comparison, and replace it with confidence, courage, and joy. Help me not just to attend, but to function—to serve, to give, to love, and to supply strength to Your Church. Let me fulfill my assignment for Your glory. In Your name, Amen.
