TITHING REFLECTS A HEART OF TRUST & GRATITUDE
2 Corinthians 9:7, “Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.”
Giving from a Heart of Faith
Tithing is not about dollars and cents—it’s about trust, gratitude, and faith. It’s not an obligation or a religious duty, but a joyful response to God’s goodness and provision.
Think of the young boy in John 6:9, who had only five loaves and two fish. From a human perspective, his lunch was insignificant—but in the hands of Jesus, it became a miracle. He gave what he had, and God multiplied it to bless thousands.
This is how tithing works. God doesn’t ask for what you don’t have—He asks you to trust Him with what you do have. Giving is not about how much you can spare, but about how much you trust God to take care of your needs. When we give cheerfully, we shift from a mindset of scarcity to abundance, from fear to faith.
Biblical Example: The Macedonian Churches (2 Corinthians 8:1-5)
Paul praised the Macedonian believers because they gave generously even in extreme poverty. They didn’t give out of excess but out of faith, trusting that God would provide. They saw giving as a privilege, not a burden.
God’s economy is different from the world’s. When we give, we don’t lose—we gain. We are sowing into His Kingdom, and He promises to bless our faithfulness (Luke 6:38).
🙏 Prayer: Lord, I give with a heart of gratitude, knowing that You are my provider. Help me trust in Your abundance rather than my circumstances. Thank You for always meeting my needs. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
Assignment: Living Out Generous Faith
- Commit to giving joyfully this week—whether in tithes, offerings, or acts of generosity.
- Write down a prayer of gratitude, thanking God for all He has provided in your life. Be specific about His blessings!
- Reflect on a time when God provided for you unexpectedly—let that testimony strengthen your faith to trust Him even more.
Tithing isn’t about what you’re giving away—it’s about what you’re giving back to the One who provides for you in the first place. Trust Him, and watch Him move!
