TRUSTING IN GOD’S PROVISION

“Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?” (Matthew 6:25)

In 1 Kings 17:2-6, Elijah found himself in the wilderness during a severe drought, with no visible means of survival. But God provided for him in an unexpected way—sending ravens to bring him food and directing him to a brook for water. Later, when the brook dried up, God led him to a widow in Zarephath, where another miraculous provision took place.

Elijah’s story is a powerful reminder that God is not limited by circumstances. He can meet our needs in ways we never expect. Just as He provided for Elijah in the wilderness, He will provide for you.

In moments of financial strain, emotional distress, or overwhelming worry, our human nature tends to focus on what we lack rather than on God’s faithfulness. Jesus reminds us in Matthew 6:25 that our lives are worth far more than the material needs we stress over.

Take a moment to reflect: Has God ever failed you? The same God who sustained you before will do it again. Instead of dwelling on uncertainty, shift your focus to God’s past faithfulness. If He provided before, He will provide again—often in ways you never imagined.

Imagine a parent planning a surprise birthday party for their child. The child may have no idea what’s being arranged behind the scenes, but the parent lovingly prepares every detail—the decorations, the food, the gifts—all taken care of in advance.

This is how God provides for us. Even when we can’t see the full picture, He is already making arrangements. He knows what we need before we even ask (Matthew 6:8). Just as a child trusts their parent, we must trust our Heavenly Father.

Prayer:  Lord, I thank You for Your unfailing provision in my life. I surrender my worries and my needs to You, trusting that You have already prepared the way ahead. Help me to shift my focus from fear to faith, from scarcity to Your abundant supply. Teach me to rest in Your promises and to walk in confidence, knowing You are always taking care of me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Assignment: Releasing Worry, Embracing Trust

  1. Write down one current worry or need that is weighing on your heart.
  2. Make a list of past moments when God provided for you— even when things seemed impossible.
  3. Pray over your list, thanking God for His faithfulness in the past and trusting Him for the future.
  4. Each time worry creeps in, remind yourself: God has provided before, and He will do it again.

Trust His timing. Trust His ways. Trust that He is working behind the scenes for your good!
