Beats From Your Pastor’s Heart
COMING AS A SERVANT
As you enter this moment of worship, picture Jesus setting aside His royal robes and kneeling in the dust to wash feet worn by long journeys. He laid down His rights and comfort so He could lift others in their weakness. As you come forward today, carry that image with you—your heart uncluttered by self-focus, your hands open and ready. Ask God to surprise you: who will He bring across your path that needs a gentle word, a listening ear, or a simple act of kindness?
“For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.” —Mark 10:45
- Consider His scarred hands. Those wounds were the price of our healing and hope. Let your own hands mirror that same compassion: perhaps by offering a cool drink, a comforting pat on the back, or steadying support for someone who’s weary.
- Listen for God’s prompting. Maybe it’s the single mom who arrives early and lingers late, the neighbor down the street whose home feels too quiet, or the new face in the pew who seems unsure where to go. Who has God put on your heart today, and what simple service could bring them the love of Christ?
As you worship, let your posture and your thoughts flow outward—ready to receive and quick to serve—so that in giving you reflect the very heart of Jesus.
Prayer: Jesus, You gave everything to serve us. Turn my heart toward others with the same selfless love. Open my eyes to those You’ve placed in my path, and give me the courage and the grace to meet their need. Amen.
Challenge: Before the service ends, pick one practical act of service:
- Hold the door for someone juggling bags or a stroller.
- Assist in children’s ministry, sharing a smile or a story.
- Offer a ride to someone without a way home.
Let each small act echo the heart of Christ, showing His love in tangible ways.
