THE GOD WHO SEES ME

“Thou God seest me…”   — Genesis 16:13

There are seasons when we wander through life convinced that no one notices our struggles or our tears. We feel lost in a crowd of faces—or worse, forgotten by the very people we hoped would care. Yet before a single tear falls, God’s eyes are already on us. He isn’t a distant observer, but the loving Father who watches over every step we take. To know that the Creator of the universe calls you by name is to be reminded of your infinite worth. He leans in, listening to the quiet whispers of your heart, mapping each sorrow and joy in His mind. Even when circumstances scream that you’re alone, His presence is the steady echo whispering, “I am here.” In moments of doubt, His gaze becomes a shelter, shielding you from despair. He delights in your smallest victories and carries you through your deepest valleys. Rest in the truth that nothing about you is hidden from His compassionate sight.

Hagar fled into the desert, broken by rejection and shame. Alone, desperate, she had nowhere else to turn. But even in that wilderness God pursued her. He heard her cries, spoke directly to her, and gave her a promise for her future (Genesis 16:7–13). In her lowest moment, Hagar discovered that she was never invisible to her Maker.

  • Name Your Emotions: When loneliness or fear creeps in, pause and say, “God, You see my hurt.” Acknowledge your feelings before Him.
  • Keep a “Seen by God” Journal: Write down moments—big or small—when you sense His presence or remember a promise He’s already fulfilled.
  • Speak Your Name in Prayer: Pray, “Lord, You see me, [your name], here and now,” to reinforce that personal connection.
  • When have you most felt invisible—at work, in relationships, or in public—and how might God have been near in that moment?
  • What tears or worries do you need to lay before the One who already knows your story?
  • How does it change your day to remember: You are never lost in a crowd, because the King of kings never takes His eyes off you?

Imagine a child lost in a busy fairground, turning every direction in panic. Though hundreds pass by without noticing, the parent scans every face until their arm wraps around the child. That single embrace sweeps away fear. So it is with God—no matter how fast life moves, His gaze never wanders from you.

Prayer – Heavenly Father, thank You that You see me—every tear, every triumph, every unspoken need. Help me to live in the confidence of Your constant gaze, knowing I am never alone or overlooked. Remind me today that, whatever I face, I am held in the loving hands of the One who knows me by name. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
