GIVING THAT REQUIRES FAITH
“But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” – Philippians 4:19
True giving goes beyond the act of releasing money—it is an expression of trust in God’s provision and an act of faith that acknowledges His boundless riches. When we give, we are not merely following a routine; we are putting our confidence in a God who sees our every need and delights in providing for us. Our giving should reflect a heart that trusts completely in God’s promises, knowing that He will supply all our needs.
Jesus observed the scene at the temple, where the wealthy contributed vast sums. Yet it was a poor widow who offered a mere two mites—all she possessed. Jesus commended her sacrificial gift, saying that her offering, though small in monetary value, was great in faith because it represented everything she had. Her example challenges us to understand that true giving is measured not by the amount but by the spirit in which it is given—a heartfelt act of faith.
Consider a devoted church member who had been tithing the same fixed amount for years without truly reflecting on the deeper meaning of giving. One day, moved by a stirring message about the urgency of global missions, he felt convicted to step beyond his comfort zone. In that moment of faith, he decided to increase his giving. Remarkably, within the same week, God provided an unexpected financial breakthrough—a clear confirmation that when we act in faith, God faithfully meets our needs. This personal story reinforces the truth that our trust in God’s provision can open doors to blessings we never imagined.
Reflect on your own practice of giving. Are you following a set routine without truly relying on God’s promise, or are you stepping out in faith, trusting that He will supply your every need? Today, take a moment to ask God what He might have you offer beyond your usual tithe—a gift that challenges you to rely more fully on His provision. Embrace the opportunity to give as an act of worship, demonstrating that your trust in God is greater than your fear of shortage.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, I thank You for Your promise that You will supply all my needs according to Your glorious riches in Christ Jesus. Help me to give with a heart full of faith, trusting that every gift, no matter how small, is a testament to Your provision. May my offering reflect my deep reliance on You, and may it be used to further Your kingdom and spread the gospel to the ends of the earth. Strengthen my faith and guide me in every step of my giving. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
