Beats From Your Pastor’s Heart
FEAR NOT
Isaiah 41:10, “Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.”
In 2 Kings 6:15-17, Elisha’s servant woke up one morning to discover their city surrounded by an enemy army.
Panic-stricken, he asked Elisha, “What shall we do?”
Elisha, calm and confident, prayed to God to open his servant’s eyes.
When God answered, the servant’s eyes were opened, and he saw that the hills surrounding them were filled with heavenly horses and chariots of fire, far outnumbering the enemy.
The servant learned an important lesson: no matter how intimidating the situation looked, God’s presence and power were greater than any earthly threat.
There are moments in life when fear can seem overwhelming, whether it’s fear of failure, uncertainty about the future, or even fear of physical danger.
Like Elisha’s servant, we may feel surrounded and outnumbered.
But God’s promise to us is clear: “Fear not.”
Just as God was present with Elisha, He is present with you in your trials.
He has promised to be your strength, to help you, and to uphold you with His righteous hand.
That means you are never alone in your struggles.
No matter what you are facing, God’s power and presence are with you, ready to give you the strength to endure and overcome.
Think of a child caught in a fierce thunderstorm, terrified by the loud claps of thunder and the flashes of lightning.
The child runs into their home, where they feel safe and protected.
No matter how violent the storm outside, the child knows they are secure inside.
This is how God shields us from the storms of life.
Even when everything around us feels chaotic and fear grips our hearts, God is our refuge.
He stands with us, just as He stood with Elisha’s servant, opening our eyes to see His power and care.
What are the storms in your life right now?
Maybe it’s financial uncertainty, a difficult relationship, or a health challenge.
Whatever it is, remember that God is your shelter.
He hasn’t left you to face these challenges alone.
He is with you, ready to give you His strength and His peace, even when fear seems overwhelming.
PRAYER
Father, thank You for Your constant presence in my life. When fear tries to take hold of me, remind me that You are my strength and my help. Open my eyes to see the ways You are working, even in the midst of my struggles. Give me the courage to trust You more and to face each challenge knowing that You will never leave me. Amen.
ASSIGNMENT
Think about one fear that has been troubling you recently.
Write it down, and then bring it before God in prayer, asking Him to give you peace and strength in that situation.
As you go about your day, take one step of faith, whether it’s starting a conversation, making a decision or letting go of something that’s been weighing on your heart.
Trust that God is in control and will help you through it.
