A young father sits beside his child’s hospital bed, his heart heavy with sorrow as he watches the fragile rise and fall of his son’s chest. Just weeks ago, life seemed full of hope and promise. They had spent sunny afternoons playing together in the park, dreaming about the future and laughing without a care in the world. The father, like many of us, thought he had all the time in the world. But now, as the slow beeping of the heart monitor counts down the seconds, reality sets in—time is running out. He is filled with regret, remembering all the times he chose work over spending time with his son, all the moments that slipped away unnoticed. He whispers, “If only I had more time,” but the weight of those missed moments presses down on him like a mountain, leaving him with a deep sense of loss.

This father’s sorrow is a powerful reminder to all of us: none of us know how much time we truly have. We often live as though tomorrow is guaranteed, but life is unpredictable. In James 4:14, the Bible tells us that life is like a vapor—it appears for a little while and then vanishes. We are here today, but gone tomorrow. It’s easy to put off important decisions—about faith, forgiveness, or sharing the love of Christ—assuming there will always be more time. But what if tomorrow never comes? What if today is our last chance to make things right, to live with purpose, or to turn to God? Each moment we delay is a moment we can never get back. The urgency of life’s brevity reminds us that we must seize the time we have, fully surrender to God, and prioritize what truly matters, while we still have breath.

TRUSTING IN GOD’S PLAN

Proverbs 3:5-6,  “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”

In Genesis 12, God called Abram (later known as Abraham) to leave everything familiar—his homeland, his family, and his comfort zone.

God didn’t give Abram a detailed roadmap, but simply told him to go to a land that He would show him.

Abram didn’t have all the answers and didn’t know where the journey would take him, but he chose to trust God’s plan and obey.

Abram’s faith was rewarded as God led him to the Promised Land, where he became the father of many nations.

God not only fulfilled His promise but did so in ways Abram couldn’t have imagined. Despite not knowing the full plan, Abram’s trust in God allowed him to become part of a greater plan that would impact generations.

There are times in life when we long for certainty and clarity.

We want to see the whole path laid out before us before we take the first step.

But God often works differently.

He asks us to trust Him even when we don’t understand the situation fully.

Life is full of uncertainties—decisions about careers, relationships, and finances.

Trusting God doesn’t mean we ignore the challenges, but it does mean we don’t have to face them alone.

When we lean on God rather than our limited understanding, we find peace in knowing that He sees the bigger picture and knows the best route for us.

Just like Abram, our obedience to God’s leading can result in blessings we couldn’t have anticipated.

Imagine driving through thick fog on a winding road.

You can only see a few feet ahead, and the destination is invisible.

Despite the lack of visibility, you trust the road will lead you where you need to go, taking one turn at a time.

That’s how our faith journey with God often looks.

We may not see the end or understand the twists and turns, but if we trust Him, He will guide us step by step.

Each step we take in faith brings us closer to His promises.

PRAYER

Lord, I come to You today asking for help in trusting Your plan for my life. Even when I don’t understand or see the full picture, I know that You are in control. Guide my steps and help me to rely on Your wisdom rather than my own understanding. When fear or uncertainty arise, remind me that You are leading the way, and Your plans are always for my good. Amen.

ASSIGNMENT

Think about an area in your life where you’ve been holding back, unsure of whether to fully trust God.

It could be a career decision, a relationship, or a personal struggle.

Today, take a moment in prayer to hand this situation over to God.

Ask Him to guide you and give you the courage to take the next step, even if you can’t see the entire path ahead.

Write down the step of faith you will take and act on it, trusting God to direct your path.
