Beats From Your Pastor’s Heart
TIME IS SLIPPING AWAY
2 Corinthians 6:2, “For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.”
Imagine a young man, burdened with regret as he reflects on a missed opportunity to share Christ with his friend.
His friend, now gone, can no longer hear the message of hope that could have saved his soul.
The young man realizes too late that time is slipping away for all of us, and the chance to respond to Jesus is not promised beyond today.
The Bible reminds us in 2 Corinthians 6:2 that “now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.”
Jesus is calling us in the present moment—whether to turn our own lives toward Him or to share His message with others.
Tomorrow is not guaranteed. Time is moving forward, and every moment we delay is a moment lost that may never return.
We often think we have more time to make important decisions or to share the Gospel with those around us.
But the truth is, none of us knows how much time we really have.
Have you been putting off making a commitment to follow Christ?
Or perhaps you’ve felt the nudge to share your faith with a friend, a family member, or a coworker, but you keep waiting for the “right” moment.
The urgency of the Gospel is real, and the consequences of delay can be eternal.
If God is calling you to take a step of faith, don’t wait.
Today is the day of salvation—not next week, not next year, but today.
Waiting could cost someone their eternity, and the opportunity to respond may not come again.
Picture yourself standing at a train station.
You see the last train of the day pulling away, and you’re faced with a decision: get on the train now, or miss your chance.
Once the train leaves, it’s gone.
You can’t stop it, you can’t turn back time, and you can’t change your decision once the opportunity has passed.
Salvation is much like that train.
Jesus is offering you the chance to get on board, but if you let the opportunity pass by, you may not get another one.
Time is slipping away, and each day brings us closer to eternity.
Will you make the choice today to follow Christ, or will you let the train leave without you?
PRAYER
Father, thank You for reminding me of the urgency of responding to Your call. Help me not to delay in making decisions that bring me closer to You. Let today be the day I take action—whether it’s deepening my own faith or sharing Your love with someone who needs to hear it. Give me the boldness and urgency to follow You completely and not let time slip away. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
ASSIGNMENT
Take a moment to reflect on one area in your spiritual life where you’ve been delaying obedience.
Maybe it’s committing fully to Christ, or maybe it’s something specific God has been asking you to do, like forgiving someone, sharing the Gospel, or stepping into a new role.
Whatever it is, write it down, and today, take action.
Don’t let time slip away—respond to God’s call now.
